Living Room and Entryway Plans and Moodboard

This post is overdue but it’s summer so forgive me. The Kitchen is all wrapped up now so I can mentally and physically move my attention to the other rooms on the main floor. I wanted to tackle the Living room and front entry next since they are the first impression when you enter our home. We also currently have no furniture in them so we need some functionality asap.

My jumping-off point for the living room was the rug. I tend to start a design this way a lot if I don’t already have a color/pattern/style inspiration. I did have plans to lean into the midcentury architecture of the living room so in searching for the right rug I was thinking of something modern and possibly with a geometric shape. Loloi rugs are my go-to for style, durability, and beautiful patterns, so I searched there first. I came across this beautiful rug from the Chris Loves Julia x Loloi line that flowed perfectly with the rest of the colors already on the main floor. It has subtle greens and neutrals that tie back to the kitchen design but still allow the living room to have its own look to it.

From there I worked to add in the rest of the furniture and details. I found these swivel chairs from Structube that function to make the room into two smaller rooms – you can watch TV or visit on one side, or swivel and have a music jam session on the other. My husband dapples in a few instruments and my daughters are starting to take an interest in it so having a creative space for this was a must when planning out this room. I will also be adding a large gallery wall on the highest part of the wall that is opposite of the couch.

The entryway design will mostly be painting the front door a bright golden yellow and then adding a few art pieces and a mirror.

Here’s my mood board with links to everything below. The style I’m trying to convey throughout the main spaces is a mix of traditional and modern.
