Modern Eclectic Master Bedroom

This room is our master bedroom reveal and I’ll tell you right now, the headboard is still my FAVORITE DIY project to date! 🙂 It makes me so happy every time I climb into bed! Cheesy I know, but really though it’s true! The blue velvet is a SHOW-STOPPER and it’s soooo soft! The room was a blank slate before and having come from renting previously we literally only had a bed! The headboard was my first project… I couldn’t find a tutorial that I completely liked so my brother and I just made up the design as we went along. (He is a great design assistant when my husband doesn’t have time to help! 🙂 Shout out to you Spencer! )The nightstands are from Ikea. They are the Ikea Rast nightstand. They are only $60 and so EASY to customize! I painted the outside frame white and then stained the drawers and added new hardware to give them a mid-century vibe. Then I hung “his and hers” pictures above the nightstands.The bedroom was a blank slate and we didn’t even own any furniture aside from our bed frame when we first moved in. It was exciting to finally have our own place and beginning to make it feel like home by adding furniture pieces we loved!The wooden Mr & Mrs signs were leftover decorations from our wedding that I put into shadow boxes above our nightstands and then I hung some prints of our engagement photos.

I would love to update the paint color and change the blinds for curtains at some point but they were both just added before we bought the place, so to reduce waste and save money the rest of the room is staying as is for now…But with a headboard this sexy I’m ok with that! 😉
