My Little Girls’ Room Reveal!

It’s finally finished! Enjoying summer with my babies was more important than finishing this last month so thanks for hanging in there.

First, a little recap of the project. The previous room design had a color block detail painted on the walls but once the bunk bed was in there it didn’t really look right. Then my younger daughters’ requested a new paint color (since I had done that for big sister last year), and then that spiraled into a few more changes.

Here is the real-life before.

Once I had a design direction I headed to Lowes for my favorite paint – Valspar. The paint line I used this time is the Valspar Signature® High-Hiding Paint + Primer with ScuffShield™ Technology. This paint is Incredible! Since this is a kids’ room I knew I wanted something that would be able to hold up to their sticky fingers and little messes. Valspar Signature® with ScuffShield Technology has a film that holds up to any scuffs or stains, while still providing incredible coverage and rich colors.

I’m a long-time fan of Valspar paint, but this line was seriously next-level quality! Highly recommend!

I painted the bunkbed a beautiful yellow color called ‘Sweet Lemon’ by Valspar, and I painted the rest of the walls ‘Du Jour’ by Valspar. ‘Du Jour’ is my favorite neutral white! I got them both in a satin finish.

Then I added a striped feature wall to the back wall using the same colors. For more details on that check out this post. I also tweaked the bunk bed a bit as you may notice so go read this post for what I did there.

Next, I added in a few more details through art and textiles to tie it all together.

And now, here she is after all that work!

This color is a bit bolder than I’m used to since I let my daughter pick it, But I’m so in love with it! It’s like a mood boost to just walk into this sunny room!

The other change I made besides paint was getting new sheets for the beds. They are horse obsessed so when I saw these on amazon I had to get them! I also made a couple of cute throw pillows with some fabric my mom had on hand so I could tie in the lilac color on the nightstand. Here is a similar fabric. The nightstand is actually a large file cabinet I found at the Restore and painted ‘Dulcinea’ by Valspar. It’s the perfect size for toy storage since it’s nice and deep.

The art was repurposed from the previous gallery wall and I just changed out the one print to this cute lemon poster that went so well with the room colors. Here is a similar print.

I added a few IKEA picture ledges to display books on. Before the girls’ were always dumping the shelf out but now they can see the front cover of the books so it stays organized longer. I added a small sturdy basket on the floor for overflow books.

Another star in the room is the Chris Loves Julia x Loloi rug! I based my design on this beauty and I love that I can gaze upon it now, and not the old ratty carpet.

One other fun thing I added was these cute wall sconces so they can read in bed. They do come with wiring to plug in but our outlets were in weird spots and I would have needed an extension cord so I used the “magic light trick” by Nesting with Grace so I didn’t have to hardwire them.

On the other side of the room, I didn’t change much. We have had these cute school desks for a few years. My mom found them on Facebook and I found the chairs from someone who sells old furniture from schools. I just painted the chairs using some leftover paint that happened to tie in perfectly with the teal tone in the bed sheets. (I do love these cute kids’ Eiffel chairs though.)

Lastly, I made some cute bunting from the leftover pillow fabric. I love adding fun whimsical details like that to a kids’ room. There are so many cute bunting flags you can find on Etsy.

Safe to say they love it! 🙂

I know most people aren’t going to completely change their kids’ rooms every couple of years like I seem to do but I love sharing projects that can inspire you to make achievable design changes in your own home. The majority of what I did here was JUST PAINT! The possibilities are endless and the impact is huge!
