Colorful Christmas Home Tour 2018
Merry Christmas! Hard to believe it’s already that time of the year! Time flies when you are pregnant and already chasing two other kiddos around! For my Christmas decor this year I was really inspired by a tree that Sarah Dorsey of Dorsey Designs did a couple years ago. She is a DIY blogger that I have been following for years and I just LOVE her style and creativity! I knew I wanted something bright and colorful and when I came upon this one, I knew I had found my color palette inspiration! As much as I love the traditional colors of Christmas, lately I just want all the bright & fun colors at this time of year. I accented the tree with gold ribbon and then I repeated the pink, blue and gold elements around the room.
My collection of Christmas ornaments already consisted of some in every color but I didn't quite have enough pink and yellow so I took a bunch of red ornaments that my mother-in-law had given me ( I have probably a full box of red ornaments and I just don't ever use them that much) and I painted them to fit my theme this year. Voila! New ornaments for free!
I found this worked best on the textured ornaments like the stars and the pine cones. The paint just went on smoother. If it was warmer outside I would have probably just spray painted them for a smoother finish, but it was already below zero so this worked great too!
I added some fresh pine branches and a few Christmas images to bring some seasonal touches to our family picture ledges.
I kept the fireplace mantle a bit simpler and just added pink in a couple of stockings, so the focus could be on the Nativity on the mantle. The true meaning of Christmas.
My kids love all the Christmas books that come with the decorations and so we keep them piled on the fireplace hearth for easy access.
I found this cardboard deer at the Dollar store and just sprayed it gold to add a bit of a whimsical Christmas touch above my nativity.
I just love Christmas decorating and I love trying new colors and styles each Christmas. I'm so pleased with how it all came together this year!Happy Decorating!
