DIY Pressed Flower Art

I’ve been really wanting to make some art lately and just do a smaller DIY project.  So when I came across this art project that Jenny Komenda (One of my favorite Interior Designers and the owner of Juniper Studio ) made for her mother as a Christmas present I was so inspired to make one of my own.  I love the look of the pressed flowers against a black background, it feels like a moody, vintage wallpaper.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and when I was 21 I served an 18-month mission in north-east England.  It was a life-changing, incredible experience!  I was there to do service and to teach others about Jesus Christ and His gospel, and if you want to know more about what missionaries do and what they teach you can find that here

We mostly walked or took public transit to get around and I always came across the most beautiful wildflowers.  I would pick my favorites as we went about our day and I have been saving them in a book since then.  I’ve been wanting to do something with them and so when I came across this piece by Jenny, I knew I had to make one for myself.

Here are a few pictures from my adventures there, that show the wildflowers and some of the astounding landscape.

Anyways, I could show you a few thousand more pictures and go on and on about England for hours.  If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend a visit!

Now, on to this project! This is a fairly simple DIY; you’ll need some pressed flowers, black poster paper, acid-free glue, and a picture frame.

DIY PRESSED FLOWERS

First, cut the poster paper to fit in the frame, then play around with the flower arrangement until you found a layout you like.  Next, glue them down.

Let the glue dry, then put it into your frame and enjoy!

Volia! So simple and pretty! Now I just need to find a place to hang it.
