DIY Vintage Style Hanging Map
When I started making a design plan for my daughters “big girl” room I already knew I wanted to incorporate some a few things that had an Austrailian feel because her favorite stuffed animal happens to be a Kangaroo. After mentioning this to my husband he told me about a map of Austrailia he had that we could hang, that he had saved from when he served in Australia as a missionary for the LDS church. I loved this idea so I started searching for a way to hang it that would make it look like a vintage map you would find in a school.
For this DIY you will need:
-A map
-2 pieces of Dowling wood (found some 48″ pieces at home depot for $4 each)
-2 screw hooks to twist into the ends (had some in a picture hanging kit)
-A Staple gun and staples
-String to hang it.
First, cut the dowling wood to preferred size if you are using a smaller map. Then twist the screw hooks into the ends of the dowling.
Next flip the map over and staple the top and bottom to the back of the dowling wood.
Tie the string to each end of the screw hooks.
Now hang up your map and enjoy! 🙂
This is a really simple DIY that would look great in any room but looks especially cute in a kids room or playroom.
